Being leaders in our industry means having a wide variety of paintless dent removal skills and continuing to grow upon that skill set so that we can be the solution for our customers across the board. Understanding the art of pdr is so important. Part of the that pdr skill set includes GPR.
GPR stands for glue pull repair when used in reference to paintless dent repair. A glue pull repair is the art of using strong adhesives or glue to pull dents out of vehicles and repair them without using the pushing associated with paintless dent repair. In most cases, glue pull repair will only return a dent to its original condition about 85% to 90% of the time. In some cases, like with hail damage repair, you can use GPR, or glue pull repair, to remove dents completely by combining the art of GPR and blending, or blending hammers, which is one of the modalities of paintless dent repair and paintless dent removal. Hail damage repair presents of large quantity of dents all over the vehicle, in most cases. Which means, we need to employ a variety of techniques to properly remove each of those dents completely. If you have a large dent, using cold glue or hot glue with a skill level of paintless dent repair, you can remove a dent or manipulate a dent to a point in which it makes it much easier for a body shop or a paintless dent repair technician to complete the repair and restore the vehicle to its pre-damage condition.
When using GPR, the conditions have to be right. The temperature of the metal, the temperature of the glue, the contaminants on the surface, and the light boards that we use all have to be taken into consideration to make sure that you have the best possible environment to get a strong pull and an effective GPR repair, (glue pull repair) using the method of paintless dent repair. It is quickly sweeping the body shop industry because the pdr method minimizes the throwing away of panels. A lot of times with GPR, you can save a panel from being thrown away and replaced, minimizing waste in our industry, and also cutting down on the amount of body filler and primer that's needed to repair the area on the vehicle.
