Why is having your auto hail damage repair done by a storm chaser is risky?

One of the main reasons that it's risky to have your hail damaged vehicle repaired by a storm chaser or a temporary dent repair company is because their warranty is only
as good as them being here. If someone comes into your city or town and sets up shop temporarily for three months, six months, even nine months, and you choose to use their pdr services to have them repair your auto hail damage or the hail damage from a hailstorm, what happens if you have a warranty concern in a year and they're gone?
A perfect example, in the hail storm that hit Houston, Texas May 9th of 2019, one of our large auto dealerships got hit with hail causing lot of auto hail damage. They chose to use an out-of-town storm chasing company that came in, was the cheapest in the market, undersold the account, promised the world and under-delivered. When they left town, that Lincoln dealership was left with many headliners on their black label cars that were destroyed or damaged because of how unprofessional and poor the dent repair work was. The PDR company that did the auto hail damage repair was not concerned about the quality of the repair because they knew they were not going to be here to warranty the work.
Now, there are many companies that travel for hail damage repair and chase storms around the country, that operate with integrity and accountability because that's the type of people they are, and that's how they want to show up in this world. But all in all, trying to get a dent repair warranty from a company that no longer does business in your city or town is almost impossible. There are the few outside chances where somebody will call a local vendor and pay to have the car serviced through a warranty, but that is absolutely rare. When you have your hail damaged vehicle repaired by a storm chaser, and they know that they don't need to have that vehicle looking good long-term, it creates all sorts of problems.
That said, when choosing a paintless dent repair facility, finding somebody who is bonded, insured, certified in hail damage repair, and is local, and is going to remain in your town or city to take care of any problems that may arise in the future regarding your hail claim is very important. Another reason it might be risky to choose a storm chaser over a local company is because one of the things that can happen during a hail damage repair is the paint cracking. If it's repaired too quickly or using the improper pdr technique, the paint can actually crack and create air pockets in your car’s finish that you won't be aware of until months later when it begins to rust, because water has gotten into the area. At that time, you're left with a car that needs to be repainted and no company to stand behind the dent removal work that they did.
Even though this is the same thing, it's just another issue as to why choosing a local five-star rated and bonded and insured certified hail damage repair company is important. Your vehicle is the second largest investment that you'll probably make in your life.
