Repairing Hail Damage Using PDR
Repairing Hail Damage Using PDR

The process of repairing auto hail damage using paintless dent repair has been around for over 50 years. Each hail damage dent is individually repaired using pressure from below the panel or through GPR, which is glue pull repair, from above, to gently blend the pressure that's holding the dent in place out of the panel returning the vehicle to its original condition. Hail damage is repaired one dent at a time using the paintless dent repair method. Once one single hail dent is completely repaired, the technician will move to the next hail dent repairing it and so on until all hail damage is completely restored. Our pdr experts gently apply pressure to the bottom of the dented area with multiple pdr tips, ranging from Delvin to stainless steel to an assortment of plastics to properly perform the repair.
Some pdr technicians use leather or kangaroo leather or wooden tips to work on the backside of a panel, gently apply pressure to remove the auto dent from the panel. At the same time, using special pdr blending hammers, pdr tips and pdr tap downs to remove the halo, or the ring, around the dent which can still be present after the initial work. This is especially true with larger auto hail damage that is removed using specialized pdr blending hammers. Once a panel is completely repaired, a technician will gently wet sand the panel and then buff the panel back to a pristine, vibrant coat making the vehicle look like new again.
